Check your brand name before you build your business
Search the full USPTO trademark register for conflicting marks
What this tool checks
Enter a brand or product name and we look for exact names, shared prefixes and near-spellings. Each result shows the serial, registration number, owner, Nice class, filing and registration dates, current status and the date it was recorded — each linked to the official USPTO TSDR record.
How to read a risk label
A risk label is a triage signal based on name similarity, not a legal conclusion. Treat a high label as a reason to look closer or talk to a trademark attorney — not as a verdict. A lower label is not a clearance opinion.
Where the data comes from
The index starts from the USPTO Trademark Annual Register, covering 1884 through 31 December 2025 in 91 annual volumes, merged with daily incremental files through 3 November 2026. Every status code was audited by hand. We are not affiliated with the USPTO.
By the numbers
Data snapshot: 2026-11-03. The merge runs as a manual job, so the newest few days can lag. Full scope and known limits on the data sources page.
Frequently asked questions
Is this legal advice?
No. This is an informational search tool, not a legal opinion or a clearance search. Only a qualified trademark attorney can advise on registrability. Always confirm the current status on the official USPTO record.
Does the index include dead and cancelled marks?
Not yet. The publicly searchable index currently covers live and unknown-status marks. Dead and cancelled historical records were parsed but are not yet exposed in search. See data sources for the current scope.
How current is the data?
The index merges the 2025-12-31 annual register with daily incremental files through 2026-11-03. The merge runs as a manual job, so the newest few days can be missing. The data source page states the exact build date.
Does a similar name mean I cannot use mine?
No. Similarity is only one factor. Likelihood of confusion also depends on the relatedness of the goods or services, trade channels, and how distinctive the earlier mark is. Consult a trademark attorney for a real assessment.
